RRJ Entry

Tonight for homework, I would like you to do some thinking and some writing about the work you have been doing in your historical fiction book clubs or our class read-aloud My Brother Sam is Dead. Please complete a one-page entry sharing your thoughts. Some of the ideas you might write about could be:

-Setting (Where, when and what is the emotional atmosphere like?)
-Conflict/Tension
-Change (Who or what has changed? Why is this important?)
-Looking closely at character (Their traits, what motivates them, what pressures they face and the problems that exist for them)
-Repetition- What is being repeated and why? What could this mean?
-Themes

Your entry is due tomorrow, February 5, 2015.

December Happenings

Hi! I am Nicole Strickland. And I am here to write about "December Happenings".

We have had a busy month! We worked with Mrs. Forst's first grade class. We read a book called  The Snow Globe Family. and made little snow globes with our pictures in them. We also made picture frames. We also worked on writing argument/opinion essays about chocolate milk and school uniforms. We picked our own research topics and created non-fiction books, too!

We are looking forward to our school-wide sing along tomorrow. It is when the whole school comes together and sings. If you are a new teacher, you have to dance when we sing Have A Holly Jolly Christmas. But don't worry- the students will help you!
